The Raftacco vineyard began with the arrival of Pedro Raftacco's grandparents, Juan Raftacco and Josefina Piovera some 150 years ago. They came from the Piemonte region Italy, settling in Chacras de Coria, a small oasis town founded in 1568. The Raftacco family owned many acres of land around Chacras de Coria, and had many children as well. Of all of them, Pedro was the one who inherited the family’s love of the land and the vines. Pedro and his wife Maria lived in the house his parents built in1909, and which still stands in the vineyards today. We estimate that these majestic vines are more than 120 years old, and, because they were planted so long ago, must still be tended with a horse and plow. We feel blessed to be able to carry on the tradition of the Raftacco family and Pedro’s commitment to his beloved vines.tacco
